My Italian Adventures Part 2

Hello everyone and happy Thursday!
I am sooo looking forward to the weekend. This week has been pretty hectic with clubs + initiation but I am ready for some much need R&R this weekend!

I know it's been a long month overdue, but I am finally getting around to sharing all of my pictures from Italy with you. Milan was our first and last stop during our vacation in June. We flew into Milan this time and went back into town the day before our flight so we could explore some of the city. Unfortunately, my camera died but I was able to capture a few pictures!

Both of the first two pictures were taken at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It is absolutely breathtaking. It's home to some of the most high end stores in the world such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Chanel. There are store surrounding the exteriors of the galleria, including a little mall. Right when you step outside, you see the gorgeous cathedral. Leonardo da Vinci was one of the architects and it is very much Italian-Gothic style. It took nearly six centuries to complete and is the third largest cathedral in the world!! When we were there, they were setting up for fashion week and the stage is set up right beside the cathedral #goals. I finally understand why Milan is one of the fashion capitals of Europe. It reminded me so much of New York and everyone was very elegant and dressed to perfection. The city is full of art, culture, and rich history. I did not get to spend as much time there as I would have liked but I plan on going back!

I hope you all enjoyed these photos and stay tuned for my next post!

xx,

Carly

Spring Look

Hi, friends!

Today, I'm sharing with you one of the looks that I'm loving for spring and planning to style soon! Denim skirts have made a huge comeback, I must say! I used to have one has a little girl but I never liked wearing it. I love chambray and probably own too many chambray shirts #sorrynotsorry. How cute is this white blouse from Madewell?! Tying tops in the front is a fun, girly way to add something different to a simple look. I recently got this top from Anthropologie and have been obsessed with this trend ever since! Speaking of trendy, I've seen these sunglasses everywhere on Instagram! I'm not sure I could pull these off, but comment below if you have these! I recently got this necklace and these platform sandals! I've been eyeing these types of sandals for a while and when I saw Target had them for under $30, I knew I had to get them. I purchased them in gold! It will be a fun way to spice up an outfit. This bag look just likes a Chloe dupe!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Carly

Thinking Spring

Hi, friends!
Today I'm going to be sharing with you all some much-needed outfit inspiration for spring. The weather here in Georgia is ridiculous! One week, it's high 70s, then the next it's freezing! Spring is just around the corner on the calendar! Usually, spring is my least favorite season. I'm not a fan of the pinks, yellows, and mint colors. But this year, I'm looking forward to spring. Darty season is almost here and I'll hopefully be more motivated to workout in the beautiful weather!

I'm obsessed with these pj's! Source: Gal Meets Glam

Of course I had to incorporate some black & white outfits. In case you didn't know, that is my favorite color combination!!

Thanks for reading & happy Monday!

Spring Break Essentials

Hey y'all! Spring Break is officially upon us! If you're on yours now, I'm so jealous! Mine begins next Thursday and I could not be more excited. I'm headed back to Kiawah Island, South Carolina where my family and I go all the time. I have been going there since I was young and it is 30 minutes from the beautiful historic city of Charleston. We have great friends who live on Kiawah as well, so we always spend time with them when we visit!

I'm doing something a little different this Spring Break--working! I got the opportunity to work at Southern Tide and I am so excited. I've always wanted to work retail. I'll get a few days on the beach but I will be working 4 days of the 7 I'll be there. Above are some of the things I will be packing to take with me, minus the float (it's so cute though). I have been wearing a delicate necklace from Kendra Scott lately that my mother got me for Christmas; it's my birthstone. I normally don't wear accessories everyday, but I have seriously grown to love these necklaces. I might purchase the black one! I also plan on picking up some Argan Oil. My hair is long and thick and it requires maintenance. I plan to protect it from getting damaged from the sun.

What are your spring break essentials?

How to Style Sneakers with Jeans

As a young girl, I cringed when I saw people wear sneakers with jeans. It was just weird to me. Sneakers were meant for the gym and exercising. Now, in 2016, I love how sneakers with jeans are styled. It's a laid back yet so put-together look. I am aiming to style an outfit like one of these this year!

Why a Break Can Be Good

*via

Hello, all.
It's been a few a months since I posted on my blog. Honestly, I wasn't sure what I wanted from blogging. Trying to find your voice in a world of 7 billion people can be tricky. Sometimes, I would get writer's block or write about random things. It can be challenging at times to know what your readers want to see. But I realized, I haven't had this blog for long and I'm not sure if anyone reads it, but hey, I'm ok with that. I'm a rookie in the world of digital media, but I learn something new everyday.

I'm so glad blogging has had the impact it has on the fashion industry. Seriously, who knew taking pictures of what you wear daily or how you do your makeup could be so influential. A blogger I read, Caroline, from Citrus & Style recently posted an ah-mazing post about dealing with negativity. An avid reader of blogs myself, I don't see why people feel the need to post negative comments on blogs. I have personally never had one, but I've seen it happen to the most kick-ass bloggers out there.  When I first started my blog around August of last year, I was very worried about people at my school, or anyone really, finding out about my blog. I was a 16 year old, posting random things about why I loved this trend or that outfit. I didn't know what I was doing half of the time. Now, I'm 18. While I'm not a full-blown adult, I realized that I have no reason to be afraid of what people think about my blog. Yes, it took me two years to realize that and how much I missed blogging. This sounds cliche, but blogging added a positive aspect to my life. I felt the need to be more creative, learn to take better pictures, and come up with cool stuff to write about. I also love watching the relationships between bloggers and their readers. You literally feel like you're talking to your best friends 24/7, and that's how I aim to portray to y'all.

One of the reasons I started this blog was because of my love of writing, and obviously fashion. I have enjoyed writing since I was a kid and being in AP English classes has helped my academic voice grow tremendously. Also, I love fashion. Like, that's an understatement. I can't explain how much I enjoy getting dressed in the morning or reading about the inspiration behind collections. Fashion makes me happy, like the kind that you know if you were forced to do it forever as a job, you would be content.  I want a career in the industry, as a designer or something else, I've got time to decide. Most teenagers my age have no clue what they want to do for the rest of their lives. I knew I always wanted to be in fashion (mentally), but after studying at Parson's over the summer in New York City, I knew, in my heart, I belonged in the industry. Hopefully it will all work out!

Currently, I am a second semester senior of high school, barely hanging on because of senioritis-(it's very real). I am still waiting to hear back from my number one choice of college and possibly my second choice of college. I have been accepted into the 3 out of 5 colleges I applied too so far. No lie, the college admissions process is stressful and I am glad that part is behind me.

Anyways, I'll stop ranting now. But hey, a break is good. I needed it.
Thanks for stopping by my small space on the internet. The best is yet to come.

Always,
Carly

Fall Layering

Cooler temperatures will be hitting very soon, for the Fall season is upon us. In Northeast Georgia, the temperatures will start going down a little bit in the middle of September. Fall is my favorite season! The fashion during this time is what I am most comfortable with wearing- all of the neutrals, chunky knits, riding boots, and vests. One thing I haven't mastered yet is layering. I can be kind of confusing for me, because I see it done well but when I try, it doesn't look as good. After doing some research, I found three common layering ideas.

#1: The tank
A tank can be styled in all seasons. Channel those late-summer, flowy tanks by pairing it with a button down (don't button it up) or a lightweight jacket.

#2 The button down
I will be wearing this more when the winter season hits for sure, but for fall, I would wear it with a cozy cardigan or under a sweater. If you want a preppier look, definitely opt for the button down and sweater and for a relaxed look, go for the button down and cardigan!

#3 The vest
One of my favorite pieces beginning in the fall are vests. It's the extra detail to any outfit. I would pair this lightweight vest with a piko top or a shirtdress. J. Crew has great puffer
vests if you wanted something more heavy.

* All pieces are from Nordstrom BP

Fall Graphic Tees

I've never been a big graphic-tee person as I've aspired to be. My issue is that it's hard for me to find the right tee. While I love J. Crew's tees, I also love Madewell's. I see other bloggers pull of a perfectly, put-together look of a tee and jeans. It's simple, yet speaks so much for the person you are. I've rounded up a few graphic tees I think will be perfect for fall, courtesy of Madewell :).

What I'm Reading: Southern Living

I've always had an appreciation for good 'ole, southern things- aka, Southern Living Magazine. I was even more excited this month, because as you fashion-lovers know, all of the September Issue cover stars are being revealed. Reese Witherspoon is on the cover of Southern Living for September 2015!

Reese recently came out with her own southern fashion line, Draper James. I was very intrigued in this because I want to be a designer, but I was struggling with whether or not to move to New York for couture or stay down South and pursue southern clothing. Reese just proves that you can do it all! I love how she is embracing her roots and culture. Women in the South love dressing up and looking put together. Every time I go to a college football game, I dress up because my father always told me I could never be underdressed at an event. (Yes, football is an event here.)  Parties are lavish, and hospitality is the real deal. Check out Reese's full article here, as well as her clothing line!

Meeting Rebecca Minkoff

While in class one day, my friends and I came across an Instagram post from Rebecca Minkoff's page saying she was having a meet and greet, and a first look at her Fall 2015 Collection at her store in SoHo. We immediately sent an RSVP email for the event and became so excited to actually meet a designer. My friends and I got dressed up and walked from our Parson's dorm to her store (about a 20 minute walk.) When we first walked in, we were greeted by associates and made our way around the store to meet Rebecca. First off, she was so nice. She came up to my group of friends and we told her how we were studying at Parson's. She even asked where we were all from!

I was in love her Fall 2015 Collection. Everything was my color palette (black, white, gray, green, burgundy) and I wanted to buy everything! One of my friends and I got a purse and my other friend got a pair of boots from her Fall Collection. We stayed at the event the entire time. Another fun thing was that, Blair Z, a fashion illustrator, would draw portraits of you if you purchased something from the store. I'm currently waiting to get mine made (Blair had to leave).
With that being said, it was amazing to have been able to meet a designer. My class toured a branch of Donna Karan's business last week, but atlas, we did not meet her. I love everything Rebecca Minkoff designs and instantly became inspired by her collection. Everyone was so kind and fashionable. Also, how cute is that New York poem?!

Prom 2015

Hey, y'all! After the M.I.A. of me and my blog posts, I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Like I mentioned earlier, school is crazy right now. Bare with me! I have some exciting news and posts planned for the beginning of summer!

Today, I thought a would share a few of my prom photos! It had rained the whole week before prom and everyone was afraid it would rain on Saturday. Thankfully, the rain held out until after pictures! We took them at a gorgeous home on Lake Lanier. Everyone had a lovely time!

My dress was from Nordstrom! It was so much fun to wear. I knew I wanted to wear black, and black and white are my two favorite color patterns. When my mom picked up this dress for me, I knew it was the one. It's different from the normal prom dress because it doesn't have all of the sequins or other common patterns on dresses. This dress was very elegant and classic. I highly recommend it! Also, if you are short like me, it drags a good bit. Instead of heels, I wore wedges because those were the only shoes that would make the dress barely touch the ground. Plus, wedges are more comfortable for someone who can't walk in heels yet.

Spring Outfit

Three things I love about Spring: pastels, white, and flowers. I snagged this awesome Halogen cashmere mint sweater for under $40 at Nordstrom! Talk about a steal. The jeans are American Eagle, and the converse are none other than Chuck Taylor's.

Currently Craving

Online window-shopping seems to have been getting the best of me lately. Do you ever feel like you could buy something new everyday? I do. I always feel like I am missing important pieces from my wardrobe. I believe every girl feels that way. Even style bloggers and fashion icons are always changing their wardrobe or adding to what they have. Loving fashion as much as I do, I always want more to work with so I can put more outfits together. Here's what I've been gazing at lately!

Outfit: Snow Day

Hey, guys! I'm so excited to finally be able to share with you my second outfit post! I was out of school for basically two full weeks, minus one day, due to the crazy snow that fell in my area. Naturally, I thought about shooting an outfit post. (I did it myself.)

My top is from J. Crew Factory, black gingham
My scarf is from Abercrombie & Fitch
My pants are from The Loft, black slim fit
My rain boots are Hunters, in black.

xoxo!
