My Italian Adventures Part 1

Hello, friends. It's been a while!

I hope everyone had a fantastic summer and is getting into the swing of things with the new school year. 

I wanted to finally share all of the photos I took while I was in Italy this summer. This was my second time going back and I could not have been more thrilled. We stayed in new places this time, for the most part. However, I enjoyed going back to the places we went to last time because I always notice different things that I had not noticed before!

On June 2nd, I boarded my flight from Charleston back home to Atlanta to meet my family and friends to hop on our flight to Milan. Almost everyone who went on the first trip to Italy came back to go on the second one, minus a few people and two new people, but we still had a blast. The flight from Atlanta to Milan was direct and about a 9 hour flight, plus 6 hour time difference (Italy is 6 hours ahead). Last time, we flew into Rome.  I was able to capture a photo of us flying over the Swiss Alps which was so cool. I had zero interest in skiing/snowboarding anymore but I would still love to see them in person!

I definitely preferred flying into Milan this time over Rome. Milan is in the northern part of the country and Rome is in the southern portion (it's also the capital.) Our main focus of this trip was to see the northern part of the country since we saw what we wanted to see in the southern part last time. There are still parts of Southern Italy I would love to see!

Our first stop: Lake Orta. 

Lake Orta is located Northwest of Milan. It's about an hour from the Switzerland border. Lake Orta and Lake Como are both in the northern parts of Italy but Lake Como is more touristy and known for celebrity sightings. Lake Orta is a little touristy but it's not overwhelming by any means.

A few from one of our friends' clients home! They cooked us a homemade, Italian meal and it was the best food I've ever had. 

Overall, I highly recommend visiting Lake Orta! It was very beautiful, peaceful, and rich in history.  I'll be honest, there was not a ton to do in this city. It was more of a place to relax. We drove up to the mountaintop and walked around in a few older churches and observed the lake down below.

Spring Break Essentials

Hey y'all! Spring Break is officially upon us! If you're on yours now, I'm so jealous! Mine begins next Thursday and I could not be more excited. I'm headed back to Kiawah Island, South Carolina where my family and I go all the time. I have been going there since I was young and it is 30 minutes from the beautiful historic city of Charleston. We have great friends who live on Kiawah as well, so we always spend time with them when we visit!

I'm doing something a little different this Spring Break--working! I got the opportunity to work at Southern Tide and I am so excited. I've always wanted to work retail. I'll get a few days on the beach but I will be working 4 days of the 7 I'll be there. Above are some of the things I will be packing to take with me, minus the float (it's so cute though). I have been wearing a delicate necklace from Kendra Scott lately that my mother got me for Christmas; it's my birthstone. I normally don't wear accessories everyday, but I have seriously grown to love these necklaces. I might purchase the black one! I also plan on picking up some Argan Oil. My hair is long and thick and it requires maintenance. I plan to protect it from getting damaged from the sun.

New York City: Week One

I've been in New York since July 5th but I thought it would be neat to do a recap of my first week here. It was all about starting my class, meeting new people, and getting adjusted to the city life. I've had an amazing time so far, and wanted to share some photos!

Places I Want to See: Nashville, Tennessee

Lately, I have been on a Nashville-craze. I am dying to visit this city for multiple reasons. (The show is great, too by the way.) It wasn't until last year I really started liking country music. Weird right? since I live in the South. Now, it's almost all I listen to, with my favorites being Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. Nashville is the country music capital of the world, which doesn't surprise me when most of the singers choose to reside there. Another interesting thing about Nashville is that it's the 8th fastest growing city for fashion in the United States. I think most people who want to go into fashion feel like New York City is the only place they can thrive. Hey, that may be true and sometimes it is successful. But nothing is sweeter than your roots (and I'm not talking about hair.) I already feel a sense of pressure to move to NYC for my fashion career, but the true is, opportunity is everywhere. Some more than others. The South is a wonderful place and I can imagine it would be hard to leave. All of the cool architecture and artsy vibes screams inspiration!

Traveling: Winter in Europe

I cannot wait to travel the world. As much as I love being young, I know being older and having a great career will be rewarding. I've had the privilege of visiting Italy a couple of summers ago, and I must say, I've never been more in love with a place in my life. It was the farthest I had ever been from home and I must admit, I was a little nervous. But while I was roaming the streets of Rome, Florence, Venice, and other towns, I realized how much it felt like home. I've never felt so comfortable with a certain place, a certain feeling. It was the best experience and I can't wait to go back. (Let me know if y'all want to see pictures!)
With that being said, I would love to travel to Europe in the winter. I can only imagine how much more beautiful it looks with the snow covering the countries greatest treasures. I pulled some pictures from Pinterest to help convey the big picture.
