Life Lately

Hello, everyone! Even though I have been posting blog posts, I feel as though I've been MIA these past couples of weeks. A lot has been going on from tennis, to school, to crazy amounts of homework. I've rounded up a few pictures to show you all what I've been up to lately!

Catelyn and I snapped a photo after our win! Sadly, our tennis season ends this week. It has flown by. We started in mid-January, but we've missed a lot of days because of the weather, therefore, we haven't had as many practices as we needed. I'll be sad to not be playing with our team, but I'm thankful for the break I will have. No more traveling to 2 hour away places on school nights!!

My best guy friend, Noah, prom-posed to me! (haha). We've been doing an activity in AP U.S. History about communism, and we had to spy on someone and find out all of this information about them to see if they were communist! (liking Instagram pictures, taking selfies, etc.) He ended up having me and I was totally shocked. He kept the best and biggest secret from me! My boyfriend was not able to go to prom with me due to a tennis region match in North Carolina, but I'm excited I get to go with a great friend!

What is sleep? No, really. It has been borderline nonexistent for me these past two weeks. I have had lots of work to do, mainly because it's the end of my junior year and AP exams are coming up. STRESSFUL. Coffee has been my best friend, keeping me sane and somewhat awake. I was so happy when I woke up at 10:45 am on Saturday and Sunday. Normally, I would wake up at 8:30 and stay tired all day, but I feel refreshed and energized now.

My #ootd for last night's event. I was helping as a daughter and an Interact Club member. My mother is the president of Rotary for our county, and her and the director of Circle of Hope teamed up and did an event- Dancing With The Stars. It was amazing. I never knew adults could dance like that and for such a great cause.

Also, keep up with me on Instagram.

Have a fabulous week!

My Spring Playlist

Happy Friday! I hope you all had an awesome week!
I have four more days to go until spring break...ahhh. As of right now, I have no plans to go anywhere special, but we'll see how things turn out! I made my first playlist to show y'all what I have been listening too lately. I listen to a variety of different music- country, rap, hip hop, etc. These songs have me singing along, in an almost-annoying way. Oh well, no one's listening!

What I'm Loving: Spring Beauty

Spring has officially sprung! Besides the fashion changing from season to season, another thing that changes are the beauty products. I definitely lean towards darker nail polish and less-flowery smelling perfume in the winter. My beauty routine also changes from season to season. My skin is incredibly dry during the winter months, so when spring comes every year, the dryness starts to go away, around my face, that is. I have eczema, especially on my hands, therefore, I have to apply lotion at least twice a day, if not more. The True Blue Manicure Spa really helps smooth my hands and makes them look presentable, since I will be flaunting more colorful manicures this season! I always have to have my EOS lip balm with me. These little balls of heaven last forever. Not even kidding. I have had the Coco Chanel perfume for a long time and my mom got me the Tory Burch one last year at the end of the school year, (with my monogram on it.) I wear Tory's the most. Both smell of flowers, but Tory's is more deeper with her scent while Coco's is lighter. What better way to store all of these products then in my ultra cute Vera Bradley cosmetic bag?

I hope y'all are having a good week!

Get Inspired: Karlie Kloss

Karlie recently stated how much she used to not like running. She had never ran more than 4 miles at a time. A few weeks ago, the supermodel took to her Instagram to state how she wanted to run more. Runner's World, a famous- running magazine, reached out to her to design a "Catwalk to 10K" training plan, specifically designed for supermodels who wanted to run more. How cool is that?!
Little did anyone know, Karlie was actually training for a Paris Half Marathon, which she completed a couple of weeks later. Wow. From someone who hated running to running 13.1 miles is incredible!
Whether or not you are a runner, or fellow active chic, Karlie inspires everyone to push themselves out of their comfort zone. Even during her hectic schedule of fashion shows and photoshoots, Karlie still made the time to train for the race. If anything, she is a perfect example of self-discipline. I plan to run a half marathon soon and onto a full marathon sometime in my life!

Warm-Weather Fitness Tips

via*

Spring is officially a day away! I'm thrilled to finally have warmer weather. With warmer weather, comes prom and bathing suit season. I've already started prepping for prom (I'll share my dress in a later post), and of course, the pressure to work out is on. If you hate going to the gym or exercising in general, there is always an alternative to be active and  healthy.
I have a lot some great places to hike at in my area, such as the Talulah George and Panther Creek, which also attract rowers and kayakers! I also love running and walking, so I make it a point to get outdoors and go for a nice walk, with or without my phone.

Regardless of your fitness goals, do what works for you and enjoy it!

Senior Year

As most of you know, summer is around the corner, which means I will be a senior. It is so hard to believe it will be my last year of high school. People say it flies by and I didn't understand that until I was almost at the end!

I registered for my senior year last week. It went by quickly, so the process of grasping the idea of how I would spend the last year of my high school career passed me by. I'm taking at least 3 AP courses and easy, yet fun electives so I'm excited for what is to come.

I plant to do a 5-6 series post on this certain area. I feel amazed to be able to share with you all of the content I do and these are the most important years of my life. I know a lot of other bloggers out there are my age and I encourage them to do this post too!

Shoutout to all of my fellow juniors, we only have 2 months left!!!

How Your Smartphone Could Be Ruining Your Skin

I know what you guys are thinking: "What?! There is no way this is true."
Well, think again. This article appealed to me, considering how I much our world is glued to their phones today, there has to be something bad about them, right?

1) It causes breakouts: The LAST thing any female/male wants to hear. Yay, not only will I get pimples from my hormones, but hey, my smartphone will give them to me too! If you think about it, our phones contain so much bacteria and germs, from being inside our pockets, to our hands, to up close to our faces, the bacteria has easy access to invade our face and cause unwanted breakouts and rashes. A great way to prevent this is to clean your cell phone. Some use a dab of rubbing alcohol over the screen and others us cleaning supplies. As long as it won't damage your phone, you should be a-okay.

2) It keeps you up at night: Every teenager who owns a cellphone can easily plead guilty to this. Whether it's scrolling through unwanted Twitter feed or liking the latest pictures on Instagram, everyone has lost sleep because of their cellphone. Sleep is so important, for anyone at any age. I know for myself, if I do not get enough sleep, I wake up to dark circles around my eyes the next morning and I hate it. Not only will staying up to check your phone cause dark circles, but it was also make your face look dull and you won't have enough energy to make it through your day. The cure for this? Either put your phone on the other side of your room, so even if you are tempted to get up to check it, you'll remind yourself how lazy you are to get up and check it orrrr you can put your phone on 'Do Not Disturb' and trust that the social media and texting can wait until the morning.

3) It can give you wrinkles: Say, what?! I'm 17.. wrinkles should not exist right now! But, when you are squinting at your phone to read a text, you are already allowing small wrinkles to develop around your eyes. Also, you know when you are in class and have your phone under your desk where your teacher cannot see? Yeah, that's bad for your back, neck, and eyesight. So, bring your phone closer to your face to read the information instead of straining your skin, back, and neck.

I'm A Runner

via*

On the blog, you've noticed I've talked about tennis quite a few times. It's the first new sport I have participated in since the 8th grade, but it was not my first love. My first love was running. I have been running since I was 6 years old, and have been on the cross country team for 5 years now. A lot of people HATE running, I mean truly despise the sport. And hey, that's okay. Not everyone is going to love everything that I do.
Like any other sport, there are ups and downs (and I'm not talking about the hills). I was out my sophomore year due to an ongoing ankle injury which is just now starting to heal. Even through my toughest moments, here's what I love about running:

It calms me down: If I am ever angry or frustrated, the first thing I do is go on a run. Whether I'm frustrated doing homework or can't sleep at night, I lace up my shoes, grab my headphones and my phone, and I go. (Yes, I've ran at 1:30 in the morning before.)

It's healthy: Want to burn off that cheeseburger? Well, it will only take you an hour and a half's worth of exercise, ha. Walking is also healthy too but running is a faster way to get your blood running through your body and to gain toned muscles.

It's an individual sport: To this day, I still love running alone. Even at practice. I find myself in the zone and can up my pace at any second. When you race in a cross country meet, you line up with your team as usual but your entire team will not all get the same time. Some are faster than others. It seems as though there is an immense amount of pressure, but when the gun goes off, you are completely focused. Always go at the pace you can maintain throughout your run!

It's a life-long sport: Despite sports such as football and basketball, running is a life-long sport. I hope to be like Louie Zamperini from Unbroken and be able to run until I'm in my late 80's, early 90's.

Are you a runner?

Outfit: Snow Day

Hey, guys! I'm so excited to finally be able to share with you my second outfit post! I was out of school for basically two full weeks, minus one day, due to the crazy snow that fell in my area. Naturally, I thought about shooting an outfit post. (I did it myself.)

My top is from J. Crew Factory, black gingham
My scarf is from Abercrombie & Fitch
My pants are from The Loft, black slim fit
My rain boots are Hunters, in black.

xoxo!
