Crave vs. Save: The Tassel Bag

One of the many spring trends I have noticed that has been popular with fashion bloggers are tassels. Whether it's on a clutch, dress, necklace, or the bottom of shorts, it is such a cute trend. It adds a hint of girly-ness to any outfit. The crave bag is from Nordstrom. It has a green tassel on the side, you just can't see it from the picture. The save bag is from Francesca's. The crave bag has more colorful details and represents a cultural type of pattern. The save bag is a straw material, and it comes in pink, yellow, or blue. These bags would be great for a trip abroad or a day by the beach!

Prom 2015

Hey, y'all! After the M.I.A. of me and my blog posts, I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Like I mentioned earlier, school is crazy right now. Bare with me! I have some exciting news and posts planned for the beginning of summer!

Today, I thought a would share a few of my prom photos! It had rained the whole week before prom and everyone was afraid it would rain on Saturday. Thankfully, the rain held out until after pictures! We took them at a gorgeous home on Lake Lanier. Everyone had a lovely time!

My dress was from Nordstrom! It was so much fun to wear. I knew I wanted to wear black, and black and white are my two favorite color patterns. When my mom picked up this dress for me, I knew it was the one. It's different from the normal prom dress because it doesn't have all of the sequins or other common patterns on dresses. This dress was very elegant and classic. I highly recommend it! Also, if you are short like me, it drags a good bit. Instead of heels, I wore wedges because those were the only shoes that would make the dress barely touch the ground. Plus, wedges are more comfortable for someone who can't walk in heels yet.

It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want to Be

Hey , y'all! Sorry I have been M.I.A. these past couple of days. I've had a dose of writer's block and hectic homework schedules #junioryearishard.

These next two weeks will be brutal. My AP U.S. History exam is two weeks from today, while my AP Lang will be a few days after. It's definitely crunch time. Not to mention I'm taking the SAT for the last time next Saturday...YAY.  During these times of madness, I try to do more to relax and take care of my body. I've started training for cross country, going on a few runs during the week, and drinking lots of lemon water. Sometimes when stress seems to dominate every part of your life, it seems impossible to be positive. I've been trying to work on that lately to keep up my motivation to get me through the year.

A few weeks ago, my APUSH teacher reminded us of how far we have come and to not give up now. Let me tell y'all, APUSH is a crazy amount of work. You read hours from the textbook every week, analyze documents, take notes, you know, it's a college class. Ultimately, she is right. We all have come so far and have devoted precious hours of sleep to finish our work, why should we give up now?

That's where this quote comes in. Everyone is "good", but it isn't about that. How "good" do you want to be? How "good" do you want to finish the year out? How "good" do you want to do on your tests? Just remember, anything is possible with hard work. Stay positive and never lose focus on what you want in life!

Spring Outfit

Three things I love about Spring: pastels, white, and flowers. I snagged this awesome Halogen cashmere mint sweater for under $40 at Nordstrom! Talk about a steal. The jeans are American Eagle, and the converse are none other than Chuck Taylor's.

Prom Ready

Prom is this Saturday for my school. I am excited! I don't think its hit me yet that it is this week. I have felt very calm and not a mess at all. I will do a post about my dress next week! :)
Any who, the preparation is just as important as the dance. To me, dances and other big events are some of the only times being pampered lasts for more than a day. Some people prep months before prom, whereas I start normally a week or two before. Do whatever makes you feel the best! I've listed a few of my personal pre-prom preparations below.

One week before:
  • Drinking lots of water is a no-brainer. It will make you feel better and your skin look a lot better when you give your body the nutrients it needs!
  • Get active! Depending on your dress, whether it shows your legs, arms, or abs, focus on those parts of your body. You want to look your best! A fellow blogger, Caroline posted great workout tips for prom here.
  • Decide on the hairstyle you want! It can be tricky sometimes, depending on the dress. Head over to Pinterest to get inspiration if you aren't sure.
  • Get plenty of sleep. No joke. Trust me, when I do not sleep, even if I lose an hour, the dark circles under my eyes appear. Try to accomplish all of your school work ahead of time so you can get a good nights rest.
  • Some girls like to go ahead and do their nails a week before, whereas I will do mine around a day or two before so my polish will not chip. I did my nails for Homecoming and I am debating on whether or not to do that again for prom!
  • If you feel as though you are too pale and would like a little color, I recommend a self-tanner or a spray tan. I am not a big fan of the tanning bed; it is very bad for your skin and some girls get way too dark. Choose the right color for your skin tone, and remember, summer isn't officially here yet so it is totally okay to not be tan!
1-2 Days before:
  • Your hair is going to be exposed to a lot of product for prom. Take care of it by doing a quick mask. I know for Homecoming I had 30-50 bobby pins in my hair and lots of hairspray, as well as heating products. I do a Coconut Oil mask or you can try this one.
  • Prepping your face is just as important as prepping your hair. You'll probably be wearing more makeup than you normally do during the regular week. It is so important to wash your face, exfoliate, and take off your makeup at night to avoid pimples.
  • Make sure your dress is ready to go! If it had to be altered or dry cleaned, have it a day or two before and try it out to make sure it is perfect for you!

I hope everyone has a lovely and safe prom! I want to see your pictures! Do the hashtag #peachesandcream so I will see!

Pineapple Crush

Y'all...I have been obsessed with the pineapple trend lately. The fruit is okay, but the clothes are to die for. It's such a summery trend but some of my favorite bloggers are already styling it!

I love, love, love Katey McFarlan, and her blog, Chronicles of Frivolity. This outfit is so, stinkin' cute.

Places I Want to See: Nashville, Tennessee

Lately, I have been on a Nashville-craze. I am dying to visit this city for multiple reasons. (The show is great, too by the way.) It wasn't until last year I really started liking country music. Weird right? since I live in the South. Now, it's almost all I listen to, with my favorites being Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. Nashville is the country music capital of the world, which doesn't surprise me when most of the singers choose to reside there. Another interesting thing about Nashville is that it's the 8th fastest growing city for fashion in the United States. I think most people who want to go into fashion feel like New York City is the only place they can thrive. Hey, that may be true and sometimes it is successful. But nothing is sweeter than your roots (and I'm not talking about hair.) I already feel a sense of pressure to move to NYC for my fashion career, but the true is, opportunity is everywhere. Some more than others. The South is a wonderful place and I can imagine it would be hard to leave. All of the cool architecture and artsy vibes screams inspiration!

P.S. I made some housekeeping changes on the blog, what do you think?

Currently Craving

Online window-shopping seems to have been getting the best of me lately. Do you ever feel like you could buy something new everyday? I do. I always feel like I am missing important pieces from my wardrobe. I believe every girl feels that way. Even style bloggers and fashion icons are always changing their wardrobe or adding to what they have. Loving fashion as much as I do, I always want more to work with so I can put more outfits together. Here's what I've been gazing at lately!

Fashion Icon: Jackie Kennedy

Happy Friday, everyone! I am finally out for spring break and I could not be happier. A break is much needed!
This past week in my APUSH class, we talked about John F. Kennedy. It makes me sad to know his life was cut short, but he left an important legacy. The Kennedy's were basically celebrities as well as the First Family. Notably, John and Jackie always looked incredibly put together at every appearance they had. I rounded up a few pictures I love of Jackie, to help get me inspired for summer!

Have a great weekend!
